Koga Koremichi (久我惟通)

Koremichi KOGA (December 4, 1687 - October 21, 1748) was a Kugyo (court noble) during the mid Edo period.
He mainly served during the reigns of three emperors, Emperor Higashiyama (113th), Emperor Nakamikado (114th), Emperor Sakuramachi (115th) and his official rank was raised to Juichii Udaijin (Junior First Rank, Minister of the Right.)
His original name was 輔通. His father was Naidaijin (Minister of the Center) Michitomo KOGA. His mother was the daughter of Gon Dainagon (Provisional chief councilor of state) Arikore CHIGUSA.
His wife was an adopted daughter of the lord of the Kumamoto Domain Tsunatoshi HOSOKAWA (the daughter of the lord of the Kumamoto Shinden Domain Toshishige HOSOKAWA.)
His child was Udaijin (Minister of the Right) Michie KOGA.

In 1693 he was raised to peerage and thereafter he was rapidly promoted as the head of the Seiga family (one of the highest court noble families in Japan at that time.)
After he served as Jiju (Chamberlain), Sakone no shosho (Minor Captain of the Left Division of Inner Palace Guards), Sakone no chujo (Middle Captain of the Left Division of Inner Palace Guards), and in 1702 he became Jusanmi (Junior Third Rank) and ranked as Kugyo (court noble.)
Later he served as Gon Chunagon (provisional vice-councilor of state), in 1711 he became Jingutenso (shrine messenger to the Emperor). In 1714 he was appointed Gon Dainagon (Provisional chief councilor of state). In 1727 he assumed the office of Ukone no daisho (Major Captain of the Right Division of Inner Palace Guards), Umaryo gogen (Inspector of the Right Division of Bureau of Horses). In 1730 he resigned as Ukone no daisho and transferred to Naidaijin (Minister of the Center). He served until 1736. In 1745 he was appointed to Udaijin (Minister of the Right) but he resigned his post.
